How a course works

Every lesson follows the same path, and each step unlocks the next. It keeps learning honest, so a certificate means something.

  1. Watch

    A 10-minute video with worked examples in Python. It has to be watched to the end.

  2. Read and practise

    Study notes, then three coding exercises in your browser. Solve them all to unlock the quiz.

  3. Quiz

    A short quiz. Score 70% to complete the lesson and unlock the next.

  4. Capstone

    Analyse a real public dataset and submit it for review.

  5. Certificate

    Earn a certificate with an ID employers can check.

Questions

Is it really free?

Yes. Data Science from Scratch, its quizzes, practice and certificate are free. You only need an account so we can save your progress. If we add paid courses or features in future, we'll say clearly what's included before you sign up.

Do I need any experience?

No. Data Science from Scratch starts from zero. You'll see real Python from Lesson 1, explained line by line, and practise it in your browser. There's nothing to install.

How long does a course take?

Plan for about 30 minutes per lesson: a 10-minute video, the study notes, a few practice exercises and the quiz. You can stop and pick up where you left off at any time.

Is the certificate accredited?

It's a certificate of course completion from Open Fraud Labs, not an accredited academic qualification. Each one has a unique ID that anyone can check on our verification page.

How is my data used?

Only to run your account and track your learning. Read the Privacy Policy.
